1. Stephanie Stremic says:

This a beautiful redemptive story you are living out. It encourages me so much!

    • Jody Senna says:

Thank you, Stephanie! I’m so thankful for the precious memories we can hold in our hearts to help us when life feels awry and confusing. I wish you could know Annie – she’s the biggest (unexpected) blessing ever! Annie and I might be coming to Nashville this Fall, I’d love to get together and have coffee!

  2. Linda says:

What a beautiful story! The memories definitely help remind us of all the good times and they in turn help to soften the not so good and painful times. Enjoy the fleeting days of summer making wonderful memories with your beautiful Annie!

    • Jody Senna says:

Thank you, Linda! My little Annie is visible and tangible evidence of redemption and blessing! Thanks for your words of encouragement! I hope the rest of your summer is amazing also!

  3. Angela says:

Jody, you are my inspiration. Thank you for these beautiful words of wisdom. Much love, Angela

    • Jody Senna says:

Thank you Angela! You’re getting ready for another year FILLED to the brim with memory-making! Thank you for always being so supportive while we walked through the years with our first adopted daughter – you’re the best!

  4. Barbara says:

Having been such a small, small part of this journey, this has brought me to tears even as i write this. This beautiful girl, Annie fills us with joy and wonder..What a blessing she has been in all our lives.

    • Jody Senna says:

Barb, When I think of how generously you opened your heart and your arms to Annie, it makes ME want to cry. I was so afraid our family was going to think we were crazy to become middle-aged parents, but all of you were so, so encouraging! Much love to you!

  5. Phyllis Hawkins says:

I had heard all of this from Betsy. I have thought of you, your courage and faith in His plans for y’all. I admire that so much and love seeing the beautiful woman of grace you’ve grown into. And, I’m loving getting to read your stories. Thinkng of you from our old days in Kentucky fondly. 💖 those were great days. 😊

    • Jody Senna says:

Phyllis, Those really were the days, weren’t they? We might have been dumb and crazy but our hearts were certainly in the right place! 🙂 Betsy was such a huge help when we went through our first adoption; I would never have guessed when Caroline and I stayed with her in her apartment in Riga, awaiting a visa, that 20 years later I’d see the fulfillment of the dream. I thought it was then, but that was just the storm before the rainbow! Blessings to you for being so encouraging and supportive! I can’t tell you what it means to me!

  6. Donna says:

Memories are funny things-even the not so pleasant ones can help us realize that God has a plan for us. We need to be open to it! You have helped many people by simply sharing your experience. God blessed you and Garry with Annie! I love the way you write, story so beautifully told.

    • Jody Senna says:

Thank you, Donna! And you are correct, memories are funny things, some can be so precious and beautiful, and others so painful that the act of pulling them out and replaying them can hurt almost as badly as it did the first time. Those are the ones that need healing so they don’t stop us from receiving all that God has for us. My dad died years ago from the effects of Alzheimer’s; it was so sad to watch him do all he could to hold onto his memories. I think we forget sometimes what a gift our memories can be to us.

  7. Lynda Senna says:

What a beautiful story. I’m glad to have you in my family.

    • Jody Senna says:

Thanks, Lynda! I absolutely adore being a Senna! And I love your cousins Barb and Dette like they were my own sisters!
